Perry was the daughter of Laurie Metcalf (actor) and Jeff Perry (actor). The role of Jackie Harris was played by her mom in both of the two shows she starred in on Roseanne. In 2016, Perry appeared on nine episodes of ABC's thriller The Family. In 2017, Perry had a minor role on ABC's thriller about politics Scandal which starred her father. She played a younger Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon. This spin-off show of CBS's The Big Bang Theory was another younger portrayal of her mother. Despite her family link to the character, she was offered the part through an audition.
